The National Enabling Programmes has narrowly missed out having received a double nomination in the Police/Defence Forces Project of the Year award in the Project Excellence category at the prestigious UK IT Industry Awards.
The awards were held this afternoon (Wednesday 11th November) in a virtual ceremony which saw leading experts from the IT world waiting with bated breath to see if they had won.
The National Enabling Programmes was nominated twice in the same award category, firstly as a programme overall and secondly for its National Management Centre (NMC).
The NEP is helping police forces across England and Wales to transform the way they work and collaborate by introducing a secure, trusted, cloud-based digital platform along with the tools, applications and services that help them work more effectively.
The National Management Centre, which is operated by the NEP, is a new central security protection facility for police forces across England and Wales. It deploys a range of security tools, technologies and a specialist team of analysts that monitor, hunt and help to detect unknown, sophisticated and evasive cyber security threats 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days each year.
Wayne Parkes, Programme Director for the NEP, said: “Being shortlisted twice in this category was a brilliant achievement and we are very proud to be runner up to some of the top organisations in the industry.
“The NEP approach has been singled out as an exemplar at Government level and in national policing senior leadership forums. This programme is not just about technology delivery, it is a business change enabler.
“Delivering these enabling programmes on a national basis provides greater economies of scale, common standards and consistency in the way that police forces use technology to support the rapid realisation of both operational and financial benefits through better ways of working.
“We’re delighted to be shortlisted and I'd like to thank our staff who work so tirelessly to bring our programmes to realisation thereby impacting UK policing and helping our local communities.”
The UK IT Industry Awards is one of the largest and most well-known events in the technology industry calendar.
